Project Description

Labiaplasty (Reduction of the Inner Labia)

What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is one of the most common genital aesthetic surgeries, aimed at reducing the size of the inner labia at the vaginal entrance. The size, shape, and color of the inner and outer labia can vary from person to person. Over time, factors such as pregnancy, hormonal changes, or friction from underwear can cause changes in this area.

Who Should Consider Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is an appropriate option for individuals experiencing the following concerns:

  • If the inner labia are excessively large and dark, causing aesthetic discomfort,
  • If the labia are prominently visible when wearing swimsuits or tight clothing,
  • If frequent vaginal discharge or infections are occurring due to the size of the labia,
  • If there are scars or tears in the vaginal area due to childbirth,
  • If the outer labia appear saggy, wrinkled, or deflated, creating an aged appearance,
  • If there is sagging of the inner and outer labia after weight loss.

Individuals experiencing these issues may be good candidates for labiaplasty.

How Long Does Labiaplasty Take? What are the Risks?

Labiaplasty is a procedure that typically takes about 30 minutes and is usually performed under local anesthesia. General anesthesia can also be applied depending on the patient’s preference. Patients can generally return home on the same day, with a recovery period of approximately 15 days. Labiaplasty is generally considered a low-risk procedure with no significant risk of serious complications.

Post-Operative Care for Labiaplasty

To support the healing process and minimize the risk of infection after labiaplasty, the following recommendations should be followed:

  • Pay attention to the cleanliness of the vaginal area and keep it dry.
  • Avoid swimming in the sea or pools for a few weeks post-operation.
  • Refrain from heavy exercise and strenuous activities.
  • Avoid sexual intercourse during the healing period.
  • Avoid wearing tight or rough-fabric pants for the first 15 days.
  • Follow the doctor’s prescription and instructions carefully.

Taking these precautions can help prevent possible infections and other complications.

Childbirth After Labiaplasty

The childbirth process is not affected by labiaplasty. Whether before or after the procedure, undergoing labiaplasty does not impact the ability to have a normal childbirth.

When is Full Recovery Achieved?

Due to the good blood supply to the genital area, recovery after labiaplasty is usually rapid. Full healing of the wounds typically occurs within 2-4 weeks post-surgery. Visible swelling may persist for up to 2 months, while complete resolution of swelling can take up to 6 months. This recovery process varies from person to person and generally does not cause discomfort.
